‘Hunting for Chicken’
200
‘Hunting for Chicken’ represents the highlight of ‘Two 2 Tango’ (an artists’ camp organised by Nvya Gallery, Delhi, India in South Africa) - namely, three memorable days at Bongani National Park where The Singh Twins‘ “relationship and friendship with fellow artists and their connection with South Africa’s people and environment strengthened and were felt the most”. Although appearing to be a single snap shot in time it captures several moments of that experience; the private jokes, the fun, the thrill and excitement of the chase, and the discovery of the flora and fauna of the landscape. The painting also represents a change of colour palette in the artists’ work “inspired by a landscape of earthy hues where similarity and harmony with the surrounding environment - rather than vibrancy and contrast - were a matter of survival for the wildlife”.
